Cookie Policy
This page explains what cookies Flowline uses, why, and how you can manage your preferences at any time.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They can be used for many purposes, such as keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, or tracking your activity across sites for advertising.
2. What Flowline uses cookies for
Flowline only uses strictly necessary cookies, the ones required to keep the application working and secure. We do not use any advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
Our audience measurement and performance metrics (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights) work without cookies and without storing anything on your device; see our Privacy Policy.
Because these cookies are strictly necessary, they are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR — but we still let you choose your preference below, and we will always come back to ask for consent if we ever introduce optional cookies (for analytics or marketing, for example).
3. Cookies we use
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in to your account. | 7 days | Strictly necessary |
| better-auth.session_data | Short-lived cache of your session, to avoid re-checking it on every request. | 10 minutes | Strictly necessary |
| better-auth.state | Protects "Continue with Google" sign-in against forged requests. Only set while you are signing in with Google. | 5 minutes | Strictly necessary |
| tasks_last_sync | Remembers that today's recurring tasks have already been prepared, so it only happens once a day. | 24 hours | Strictly necessary |
| sidebar_state | Remembers whether the app sidebar is expanded or collapsed. Only set once you are signed in and using the app. | 7 days | Strictly necessary |
| payload-token | Keeps Flowline staff signed in to the internal administration panel. Never set for regular users. | 2 hours | Strictly necessary |
On secure (HTTPS) connections, the sign-in cookies are prefixed with __Secure- (for example __Secure-better-auth.session_token). We use no third-party cookies: payments are handled on Stripe's own checkout page, under Stripe's cookie policy.
4. Local storage and similar technologies
Besides cookies, Flowline saves a few small items in your browser's local and session storage. They never leave your device on their own, are not used to track you, and only serve to make the app work smoothly or remember your preferences.
| Name | Purpose | Storage | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| flowline_cookie_consent | Remembers your choice in the cookie banner. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
| theme | Remembers whether you use the light, dark, or system theme. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
| flowline-query-cache:* | A copy of your recently loaded data so the app opens faster. Removed when you sign out. | Local storage | Up to 24 hours |
| flowline_timer | Keeps a running focus timer going if you reload or reopen the page. | Local storage | Until the session ends |
| notifications_read_ids, notifications_dismissed_ids, notifications_toasted_ids | Remembers which notifications you have read, dismissed, or already been alerted about. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
| comments-seen-* | Remembers when you last read a task's comments, to highlight new ones. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
| pending_timezone | Your device's time zone, saved when you sign in with Google to set up your account. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
| flowline_verify_email_dismissed, newsletter_dismissed | Hides the email-verification and newsletter prompts once you dismiss them. | Session storage | Until you close the tab |
5. Managing your preferences
When you first visit Flowline, a banner lets you accept all cookies or only the essential ones. Since we only use strictly necessary cookies today, both choices result in the same experience, but we record yours so we can honor it and ask again if that ever changes.
You can review or change your choice at any time: .
Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies and site data (including local storage) directly in their settings. Doing so may prevent Flowline from keeping you signed in and will reset the preferences listed above.
